Peter Taylor "The self-force in higher dimensions"

Brief Abstract: The field due to a point-source is generically singular at the source's location. Regularizing this singularity is necessary to compute a meaningful self-force that appears in the perturbative approach to the two-body problem. A particularly elegant regularization scheme is the Green's function approach by Detweiler and Whiting. I will discuss attempts to generalize the Detweiler Whiting scheme to arbitrary dimensions.
