Abstract: Infrared spectra from the Spitzer Space Telescope shows that the dust produced by carbon stars does
not depend on their initial metallicity, at least down to one tenth solar metallicity. We'll explore the consequences, and take a closer look at what the spectra and supporting photometry can tell us.
