“The Intriguing Lives of Galaxies”
July 9th, 2015
Professor Martha P. Haynes, the Goldwin Smith Professor of Astronomy, describes the orbits of stars around the Milky Way’s galactic center, which likely contains a supermassive black hole (Sagittarius A*), Wednesday morning during the Cornell’s Adult University Course “The Intriguing Lives of Galaxies” in Lincoln Hall. Haynes’ course explores the life histories of galaxies, including our own, and how black holes, dark matter and other celestial phenomena affect them.
