Titan's Magic Island

June 24th, 2014

In a publication in Nature Geoscience on 22 June 2014, Cornell astronomers and an international team presented their analysis of transient features that appeared and then subsequently disappeared from one of Titan's large seas.  The transient features are colloquially referred to as Titan's 'Magic Island' though scientists think they are neither magical nor an island.  Cornell astronomers that were involved in this study are Jason Hofgartner, Ph. D. candidate, Alex Hayes, Assistant Professor of Astronomy, Jonathan Lunine, David C. Duncan Professor in the Physical Sciences, and Phil Nicholson, Professor of Astronomy.
